 DSi review
 New Nintendo DSi
So what's the new DSi all about ?

Well, we got hold of a copy of the '100 classic book collection', so this review is not just a picking of what everyone else has written about it from across the internet.  At the time of writing, mid Jan 09, the cheapest place we found online to buy this was HMV, £14.99 with free delivery - bargain !!

Is it worth the money when you can get the text of these books on the internet for free - OH HELL YES !!

WHY ?

Well for starters it's alot less hassle that trawling the web for freebies, and we want to read our book whilst we are out and about, skiving at work etc. - not sat in the house.

What you get with the DS is the perfect package of your 'old faithful' classic DS handheld performing new tricks - and with style (you can teach an old dog new tricks).

We have listed all 100 titles at the bottom of this page for you.

The only problem I had with it, and it was a little problem was that when you first use it, you have to go through the tutorial of how to use it.  It only takes a few minutes, but if you have read a half decent review (like this one), then you will already know what to do (besides the fact that the controls come so naturally - good one Nintendo) and you will want to get stuck in straight away - or is it just that man thing of "who needs instructions" LOL.

DS ebook - hold it like a book

So you hold the DS on its side like a real book, drag the stylus left or right and it turns the page accordingly.

All the titles sit neatly next to each other on the virtual book shelf and you scroll through them until you find the title you want, there is also a search facility to speed things up too.

You can adjust the text size to suit your needs, and along with the brightness adjustments you can make on the DS it is easy to find a comfortable combination.

You can add bookmarks to pages when you have finished reading.  Then when you return to the book again, you can carry on from exactly where you left off.

There are a number of background sound effects for you to choose from too. If you fancy the feeling of sitting on the beach or reading on a summer night, then do give them a try.  The airport one was a bit of a mystery to me, I preferred to read in silence and so was glad of the option to turn off these effects.

Another advantage of the DS as an ebook reader despite it's compact size is the fact that it is backlit.  Meaning that you can sit in bed at night and read a classic without the annoyance of a bedside lamp.

If you are not sure what you want to read next, you can take a little quiz and it will recommend a book for you - how cool is that ??.
